Syd dePalma and Niño de Elche masterfully perform ‘vuela, y sus pupilas se dilatan’, the third single from what will be their next album. Both artists ‘take over’ and reinterpret the lyrics of one of the pillars of an icon of quinqui cinema, ‘El Pico’ (Eloy de la Iglesia, 1983), to be exact, of ‘Vuela Que Vuela’ by Joaquín Carmona & Terremoto, included in its soundtrack.
Together, and mixed up, they take a new instant classic onto their own ground. Flamenco suspended in flames, space rock with LSD-confused guitars, liberated jazz, pop melancholy and even some electronic flashes travel without complexes in a song where the raw material is also emotion.
Lights and shadows. Smoke and sweat in a burst of emotion and risk. This time there are no winks, or rather references to other artists, that matter. ‘vuela, y sus pupilas se dilatan’ is a sonic artifact that is not content to be listened to, but demands to be inhabited.

Syd dePalma (whom we also know by his other artistic alter ego, Galera) is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Granada, currently based in Barcelona. As Syd dePalma, the artist attacks with a sound based on post-punk, but sailing between psychedelia and darkness. A true sonic plasticity well escorted by notes of lysergic rock and spacious, volatile shoegaze. Even by elements and traces of his Andalusian roots. His previous full-length record, “El Lugar de Arder”, which also came out on Raso Estudio a couple of years ago, was already making obvious eyes at a psychedelia with a modernist outlook, without fully disconnecting from the references of the ’80s and early ’90s; but with this “Cola del Vicio”, which is the first stone of what will be his second album, he goes one step further.
