“MERCURY”, SUNESIS’S CATHARTIC JOURNEY

SUNESIS PRESENTS “MERCURY”, A SONIC JOURNEY TOWARDS CATHARSIS

The Barcelona-based producer returns with “Mercury”, an EP that not only reflects her growth as an artist, but also a journey towards healing and catharsis through electronic music.

SUNESIS continues to advance in her musical trajectory after her album debut LP, “Orbital”, was recognized as one of the best electronic albums of 2023 by the prestigious MondoSonoro magazine. This producer, who has taken her live shows with analog synthesizers to countries like Sweden (Way Out West), intends with “Mercury” to give more prominence to the beat, powerful and earthy, in addition to the enjoyment of the listener, who participates in each of the scenes narrated in her tracks, without losing that cosmic touch that defines her.

“Mercury” begins with ‘Relative to the Stars’, a cinematographic theme, which greets the THX sound and serves as an introduction for the rest of the story she tells us in this new EP, where ‘Surface’, single of the same, is the true protagonist. “Surface” is the darkest track of this new work and is inspired by the gloomy and futuristic atmosphere of nightclubs in movies like Matrix and Blade, wanting to be a true reflection of that feeling of getting lost in the music, feeling the beat, being indissoluble from it.

The following single “Left Alone”, where Sunesis plays with the creation of analog sounds with the Prophet synthesizer, speaks of the chosen solitude and refers to Mercury, an inhospitable, extreme and somewhat forgotten planet of our solar system. In this same narrative line, but with an uptempo point and more eccentric and raw sounds we find “Locked to the Sun”, with a marked bass line that is diluted until the end of the track.

And so, we arrive at “Stellar”, a track born of improvisation that rises as a flag of self-love and healing through music, catharsis made sound, the best way to end this personal and genuine album.

Sunesis will present this new album on November 29th at Dantz: Natura Elektronikoa(Donostia / San Sebastián – Spain).
