Nochteff begins a new chapter as a solo artist with “Crecer y Decrecer,” his first original music since Reemplazante (2024), the final album by the now-defunct Mueran Humanos, and his latest release following the Seru Girán cover “Eiti Leda,” which he released last year as a tribute to Charly García.
Recorded in Berlin, where the Argentine-born artist has lived since 2008, “Crecer y Decrecer” is the first preview of the full-length album Machine Times, due for release in February 2027 and featuring collaborations with members of Swans.
Since 2023, the musician has been performing in a minimalist setup featuring vocals, bass, and a drum machine. With his distinctive experimental use of the bass and a loop pedal, he creates layers that sound like a one-man 21st-century electronic rock band. Post-punk, post-industrial… a kind of synthesis of the formats and sounds of the two bands that shaped his career: Dios (bass and drums) and Mueran Humanos (bass and electronics).
With this new setup, Nochteff completed a full European tour as support for Anika, two tours of Mexico, three of Argentina, and was invited as a special guest by The Horrors and Molly Nilsson in Berlin, and by Kid Congo Powers (Gun Club, Nick Cave & The Cramps) in Mexico City. During this period, he also published two cut-up poetry books: Días Secretos (Ediciones Piloto de Tormenta, presented at the Buenos Aires Book Fair) and The Reality Invaders Strikes (published by Molly Nilsson in Germany). He also held two exhibitions of his visual artwork in Berlin and Montevideo.
“Crecer y Decrecer” has been available on all digital platforms since September 9. In addition, Nochteff will perform Machine Times live on November 25 in Berlin, alongside Frustration, presented by Milk Me.
